Friends of the Museum

The Pony Wagon Museum in St. Paris, Ohio was organized in 1988.  After securing a property, an abandoned railroad freight house was purchased and relocated to the eastern end of the site.  Many hours of volunteer labor were spent replacing support beams, floor joists, subflooring and the roof.  Siding was repaired, then primed and painted.  Windows were installed and doors were repaired, replaced and stabilized.  All of this was accomplished with donations and volunteers.

In order to remain open to the public, the museum depends on our support group: the Friends of the Museum.  They are essential in supporting activities and interests of the Pony Wagon Museum through advocacy, fundraising, participating in activities and hosting events of the museum.

Those who are able volunteer to assist a trustee at each open house where they greet and register guests, provide information and act as a tour guide.  They are helpful with dusting and sweeping, washing windows, painting, light maintenance and serving food during Old Fashion Day in September.

Men and women alike are supporters and friends to us.  They are an essential arm of the museum in keeping the doors open so we may share the rich history of St. Paris and the surrounding area.

Although some may not be able to participate physically, their membership is highly valued and appreciated.  Membership dues supplement expenses for utilities, office supplies, landscaping and general building maintenance.
